Griefcast podcast hosted by Cariad Lloyd - "Funny people talking about death and grief"

The whole premise of this podcast is to "talk, share & laugh about the weirdness of death", let’s face it - the whole experience is strange and bewildering. This podcast looks for the humour and humanity that death often brings with it, uniting us all. This podcast has won plenty of awards and we hope it wins your heart and ears!

Our co-founder Emma would recommend dipping into any of the episodes as Cariad Lloyd has personal experience of grief and is a warm host which makes for easy listening.

Episode 23 with Jen Offord is particularly relevant as Jen talks about losing her brother to suicide whilst at university. Jen opens up about the moment that she heard the news and everything that followed after. She discusses various topics such as counselling and how it helped her, her family and friends and what to say to someone who has just lost a loved one. Jen also talks about the positives that have followed since the loss of her brother, such as how it’s made her appreciate her hometown , the community that surrounded her and more. Jen delves into her feelings around losing a sibling to suicide and also how her parents felt about losing a child. She openly discusses how it has affected her life and how she has dealt with the pain since. We recommend this episode to anyone who has lost a sibling to suicide as Jen talks about her experience very openly and honestly.

Episode 49 with comedian and actor Aisling Bea is particularly touching as she discusses losing her father to suicide when she was three years old. Aisling talks about her Catholic upbringing in Ireland, coming to terms with her Dad’s death as a young woman and the box of things that turned up on her doorstep 30 years after his passing.  Aisling discusses the pain of losing a parent to suicide and how she has dealt with it in the years to follow. She discusses how the feeling can hit you at any point and how small things can remind you of the person you have lost and therefore just how special memories are. Aisling and Cariad discuss counselling and how much it has helped them both, as talking about loss so openly makes a huge difference. This episode is a heartbreaking listen, but as per usual, Aisling will put a smile on your face when you least expect it and have you laughing along with her. We recommend listening to this if you have lost a parent to suicide or if you are looking for advice on how to deal with loss as Aisling talks all about her life since her loss and different ways she has learnt to deal with it.
