In this podcast, Dr Jennifer Ashton explores her experiences of life and her grief after the suicide of her ex husband and the father to their children. She interviews different people on their experiences of life after the suicide of someone close to them.

In episode 2, her teenage daughter recounts her own experience of losing her father. She tells the story of how she found out her dad was gone and the following aftermath of emotions, notably the anger and shock. She goes on to explain how her family and friends tried to help her through it and how talking to them was invaluable. It also highlights some of the toughest moments in the months after, but particularly how because of the support from those around her she felt accountable to keep going and rise up from rock bottom to understand what kind of person she wanted to be in the future.

Towards the end of the podcast, Dr Sue Simring joins the discussion to shed professional light on people who are going through the acute shock of losing someone. She explains that education can help you understand that what you are going through is normal and that everyone will have their own journey so self-kindness is key.
