Amelia Wrighton

Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Amelia is a passionate and energetic musical-lover, who values empathy over everything and cannot control a fit of the giggles.

Amelia lost her mother at 19, whilst in her first year of university. The life-changing experience bred a deeper strength and resilience that has driven her forward ever since. Meeting Emma at work, they realised their shared experience of losing someone to suicide and decided that now is the right time to help others in the same situation. Amelia started her career in research and then moved into marketing, media and new business. Her focus within Suicide&Co is on strategy and operations.

Emma Morrisroe

Co-Founder, Trustee

Born and bred northerner living in London. Emma is a silly soul who always searches for the silver lining and the belly laughs.

At the age of 20, Emma was in her third year of university when she was bereaved by suicide. Losing her father to suicide a decade ago stirred feelings of anger, guilt and deep sadness. Living through these powerful and shaping emotions has had a huge impact on who Emma is today. As a result, she is incredibly vocal about changing the stigma around suicide and supporting the community of individuals who have lost someone to suicide. Emma’s background in media, combined with her inherent compassion, pinpoints her as Communications Director for the charity.

Aimee Caine

Marketing and fundraising manager

Aimee is a theatre lover and a newfound sushi fan. But most of the time she can be found spending time with her family and friends, and especially with her dogs.

Over the years Aimee has developed a keen interest in mental health, as a result of personal experiences and her studies in Criminology at the University of Leeds. She also has lived experience of suicide loss and has supported others through this type of grief too. Aimee has always wanted to work in the charity sector as making a difference and helping others is of great importance to her. At Suicide&Co, Aimee’s role is Operations Manager.

Amy Ropner

Trustee

Happiest when on a beach in Cornwall, Amy keeps on swimming and embraces the exhilaration of life.

Amy unexpectedly lost her mum at 16. She felt that her world came crumbling down around her and navigating through the fog of grief often felt impossible. Learning to cope was largely due to the support of her family, friends and talking therapies.

Amy’s desire to support those who have lost a loved one through suicide stems from her own lived experience and in turn she is passionate about reducing the stigma around depression. She believes that if we continue to talk, to share and to face this illness head on then we can reduce the number of people affected by it. Amy’s drive to bring people on this journey with her makes her perfectly suited to fundraising.

She currently works in the NHS as a Suicide Prevention and Bereavement Support Programme Manager but prior to this she was a police officer for 21 years which included responding to those experiencing suicidal thoughts, those who had taken their lives and those bereaved by suicide. In 2018, she was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal in the New Year’s Honours List for her distinguished service.

Adele works closely with those suicide bereaved in Greater Manchester and is passionate about improving the support offered to those bereaved or affected by suicide. She was greatly honoured to be asked to be a Trustee for Suicide & Co.

Paul McGregor

TRUSTEE

A keen runner, mental health champion and dad of 3.

At the age of 18, Paul tragically lost his dad to suicide. After years of struggling with grief, depression and anxiety, Paul opened up about his dad’s story and his own mental health journey. Through these personal experiences, Paul found purpose in his adversity which has shaped his life and career. He is the founder of Everymind at Work, a workplace wellbeing company focused on reinventing the way that organisations approach mental wellbeing.

Paul is incredibly passionate about raising awareness and breaking the stigma around suicide, with a personal mission to encourage others to share their stories. As a Trustee, Paul identifies strongly with Suicide&Co's mission and vision and admires their unique and positive approach to suicide prevention and awareness.

Cassie Staines

Volunteer Policy Director

Cassie is a nature-loving runner who is happiest in the hills. She has a deep passion for wellbeing and nags everyone in her life to look after their mental health.

Cassie lost her mum to suicide aged 26 and this compounded with other grief has had a huge impact on her life. Talking therapy has played an important part in her ongoing recovery, and she wanted to get involved in Suicide&Co so that everyone could have that opportunity to move forward. Cassie started her career working in government, and later moved to the charity sector. Her focus at Suicide&Co is on policy.

George Peters

Volunteer Challenge Fundraising Coach

A keen runner, you’ll probably find George on the trails of Dorset. If not, then check the gin bars or beer gardens.

George’s interest and passion for wellbeing has really ramped up in recent years through his volunteering at Samaritans and actively promoting wellbeing at his work, dentsu. Seeing Suicide&Co grow since early chats with Emma about the venture inspired George to raise money for us by running his first 100k ultra marathon along the Jurassic Coast in May 2021. George is on hand to support all those that want to take on a challenge of their own – whatever the distance or discipline!

Rosie Forrest

Communications Volunteer

Made in Yorkshire but firmly rooted in London, Rosie is a bookworm and loves film, music and celebrity trivia.

Lauren England

Legal SUPPORT

Nature obsessive to be found ogling mushrooms, moss and weird trees in the forest when she’s not working in human rights law defending peoples’ civil liberties.

Yorkshire at heart but living in Berlin, Lauren was an Art Restorer before completing her legal studies and now undertaking training as a lawyer in the field of human rights. Having lost someone to suicide as a young teenager she is eager to engage in the conversation to reduce stigma and increase discussion around suicide bereavement, and to lend her legal skills and experience with physical and mental trauma. Her role as Legal Support centres on assisting our practical legal needs and becoming involved in the active policy change needed for the broadening of access to suicide bereavement support.

Iain Riddell

Projects Volunteer

Iain is originally from Birmingham (and a proud Brummie) but has lived in the Brighton area for over 30 years. Iain and his family are avid Arsenal supporters and Iain is also a massive Paul Weller fan.

Iain was bereaved by suicide at a very young age and has therefore had a long-standing interest in supporting others who have experienced similar situations, whether that is within a professional setting in his role as a HR Director or in his social circle. Having recently taken early retirement from a large US corporation, Iain will be supporting Suicide&co with building and developing relationships with commercial organisations. He brings over 35 years of business experience, his strengths lying particularly within stakeholder management and engagement.

Tracey Thompson

Volunteer Safeguarding Director

Tracey is happiest when outdoors and loves hiking locally in the Peak District, as well as the Lake District and the Scottish Highlands.  A ‘Northern Lass’, Tracey lives in Yorkshire with her family and ginger tom cat, Garfield, and is a busy working parent to two daughters and a son.

Tracey lost her dad to suicide in 1994, when she was 24 years old, and was dismayed at the lack of support for those bereaved by suicide at that time.  She supported her mum, younger brother and extended family through this loss whilst not being able to access any support for herself.  She is therefore absolutely thrilled to be joining Suicide & Co, with a particular focus on safeguarding, and hopes in some small way to improve support services for those bereaved in this way. Tracey has over 30 years experience working in the caring professions, working with some of our most marginalised and ‘at risk’ children, young people, adults and communities both within the statutory and third sectors. She currently works as the Head of Regional Care Partnerships for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association, for the North of England where she also leads on safeguarding for the organisation, including recent guidance for staff and volunteers dealing with suicide and assisted suicide within the MND community.

Nick Martin

Operations director

Nick is a nature lover and wannabe philosopher who enjoys pondering the big questions and spending time walking in the Surrey Hills, often both at the same time!

Nick has struggled with his mental health for as long as he can remember. He was diagnosed with anxiety and depression when he was at university and has had several breakdowns since then. He is very keen to use his own experience to help others who are struggling, especially students. He has learned a lot of coping strategies over the years and is a big believer in the power of human connection and active listening. He is a Samaritans volunteer and was director of the Guildford branch for three years so has a lot of know-how about running a helpline.

James Shrager

Volunteer head of tech

James is a keen mental health advocate having suffered with depression and anxiety his entire life. James is a very open and transparent person, often posting about his mental health on social media platforms as a way of leading by example and advocating that there is no stigma around mental ill-health.

James created the sidekick charity and app, to help people create a mental health toolkit in their pockets to help them when they need. This app is in the process of being donated to Suicide&Co, so James is involved from a tech perspective to help with all things apps.

Zoe Blake

Volunteer

Zoe lives in London and has a passion for cooking, dogs, and running. She has been working in employee mental wellness for five years, after previously working in advertising.

Zoe finds satisfaction in breaking the stigma around mental health and helping thousands of individuals access mental health support through their workplace which they would not have been able to afford privately.

Zoe supports Suicide&Co by chairing the group responsible for launching and developing the organisation's support membership offering.

Overall, Zoe is committed to using her skills and experience to help improve access to mental health support and advocate for better policies in the workplace.

Events and partnerships executive

Jess loves being outside, especially with her dog, Sala, who joins her in the office and, to be honest, pretty much everywhere, even shopping!

She lost her father to suicide 12 years ago, and ever since, she has been on a real journey of understanding the bereavement process and what life looks like after being bereaved. After a difficult start to the 2020 year, Amelia approached Jess to become an Ambassador for Suicide&Co, and ever since, she has been supporting them with fundraising and their events, which leads to her role today as Events and Partnership Executive at Suicide&Co.
