A new community for those caring for someone with a mental illness
The Caring Collective is a place where people can share their experiences and understandings about what it is like to care for someone with a mental health issue. Founder Kate Oliver began The Caring Collective due to her personal and ongoing experience in caring for her mum who suffers with severe depression and anxiety. Kate found a lack of support, advice, and information for people in her situation and now aims to create a new community to talk openly and honestly about responsibility, caring, depression, suicide, hope, exhaustion, and everything in between.
On The Caring Collective’s website, you can find practical tips about how to talk about your caring role, advice on how to ask for help and support, and blog posts about the more complex and emotional aspects of caring for someone with mental health issues. Articles such as ‘Coping with a moment of crisis’ and ‘How to prepare for an in-patient stay’ provide advice and an honest insight for those in the caring position, whereas pieces like ‘Helpful things to say’ and ‘Let me know if there’s anything you need’ can be of help to those looking to support someone on their caring journey.
At Suicide&Co we know the importance of finding your community, so if you can relate to the complexities of caring for someone with a mental illness, then this is the community for you.
