Widowed and Young- Support after the loss of a partner

Widowed and Young (WAY) supports those who have lost a partner aged 50 or under, married or not, with or without children, inclusive of sexual orientation, gender, race and religion. The majority of the team at WAY has lived experience of being bereaved and so they understand what you are going through. WAY hosts events that can be virtual and in person around various interest areas. Their events occur all over the UK and can include social meet ups and chats over coffee and pub evenings, to online meetups, sporting events. These events provide support and peer to peer comfort and are a great way to meet people who are going through the same loss.

WAY also operates a 24/7 helpline, staffed by trained counsellors and support specialists, providing access to counselling, legal guidance, financial advice, and health support.

To utilise the helpline, membership is required. However, WAY offers assistance with membership fees for those facing financial challenges. The membership also includes: the opportunity to be part of a community of other widowed people, access to peer-peer support groups, invites to events across the UK, financial support, a one year subscription to their magazine, access to the helpline and to a network of volunteers with lived experience. Their annual membership costs £30 and you can sign up here

They also have lots of useful resources on their website such as different blogs, websites and books that can provide help and comfort to those who have been bereaved. As well as this, they provide useful information on topics like funerals and memorials, life after death, how to support someone who has been bereaved and more.

WAY is a brilliant charity that allows people who have lost a partner to feel less alone and access the support that they need through the charity and through their community.
